Ancient Egyptian coffins were intricately decorated with funerary texts and scenes of the deceased among piles of offerings. One face of the coffin of Djheuty-nakht also shows carefully rendered representations of tools, weapons, garments and jewelry for use in the afterlife. Elaborate collars, much like this one, can be seen on his coffin walls. It is made of turquoise, a semi-precious stone widely used in Ancient Egypt, and gold plate. Gold was highly valued and associated with the life-giving sun and the glowing skin of the gods.
