About This Item

Boston sculptor Richard H. Recchia (1888–1983) created this sleek and stylized aristocratic feline in 1931. Recognized as one of the first local artists to produce abstract sculpture, Recchia created a veritable sensation when Persian Cat was first exhibited, but its subtlety and characterization eventually won critics over.

Hand-cast in resin with a hand-painted patina.
