Motawi Tudor Rose Tile

The sibling duo of Karim and Nawal Motawi and their staff of talented artisans make these beautiful tiles in their Ann Arbor, Michigan studio. They use locally produced clay and glazes mixed on site from their own recipes. Their aesthetic influences include early 20th century decorative artists such as Mary Chase Stratton, Adelaide Robineau, and Dard Hunter.

The design for his tile was inspired by the works nof Britain's most talented pottery and tile designer, William de Morgan. A life-long friend of William Morris, he designed tiles, stained glass and furniture for Morris & Co.from 1863-1872.

Each tile is notched on the back for hanging.
