Seascapes

In New England, artists such as Winslow Homer and Edward Hopper are readily associated with seascape painting. At the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, these two brilliant artists are represented in our collection along with many other painters who have uniquely captured the tranquility and power of Mother Nature as she manifests herself in sea and coastline. European masters selected for our seascape category include the Impressionists Paul Signac, Claude Monet, and Alfred Sisley. In addition to Homer and Hopper, you will also find Americans Fitz Hugh Lane and Edward Darley Boit.
